The studio
Studio Ida is an interior design studio based in the Essex/Suffolk borders that works across the UK and abroad. We are dedicated to creating considered, high-quality interiors that are as comfortable and functional as they are beautiful.
We create spaces that exude personality with layers of fabrics, natural materials and colour, while also retaining a timeless sensibility and style. Keen to avoid a particular “look” or “trend”, we approach each project with enthusiasm, and the collaborative process results in a space tailored to your needs.
A shared love of design
With over 20 years of interior design experience between them, Franky and Gemma founded Studio Ida in celebration of their mutual love of colour, craftsmanship and practical, balanced interiors.
Together they bring a complementary skill set — creativity, technical knowledge and a strong focus on their clients. Based on the Essex/Suffolk borders, the studio works on a select number of projects at a time, giving each one the care and attention it deserves.
Gemma attained a diploma in Interior Design at KLC School of Design with distinction before honing her skills at Taylor Howes, the multi-award-winning Knightsbridge studio. Her experience spans high-end residential projects in some of London and Europe’s most prestigious real estate, show homes for landlords and developers, and local residential consultancy.
Also a KLC School of Design graduate, Franky trained in colourful, timeless interiors with Suzy Hoodless, a regular on House & Garden’s Top 100 Interior Designers list, before joining Kit Kemp’s design team at Firmdale Hotels. Her experience also includes high-end residential and commercial projects across East Anglia and London.
A clear and collaborative process
We enjoy working on projects of all sizes, great and small. Alongside full interior design, we can help with space planning, bespoke joinery and kitchens, sourcing furniture, fabrics, lighting and art, and managing the work on site with your architect and builder. Whether it’s a turn-key renovation or advice on a single room, do get in touch.
Our full design service takes a project from concept to completion. Every project is unique, but our process typically follows four key stages, and we work closely with you throughout.

Discover
We take the time to get to know you, your home and the way you live. Through conversation, reference imagery and site visits, we explore your ideas, needs and aspirations.

Develop
Initial concepts are presented through mood boards, physical samples and visuals, thoughtfully crafted from the earliest sketches, to establish the overall direction.
03
Refine
We evolve the design through detailed drawings, specifications and carefully considered details, sourcing from our network of trusted suppliers and artisans.
04
Deliver
We manage the build on site, coordinate logistics and deliveries, and finish with installation and styling — bringing in the art and accessories that make a space your own.
